It has many names, Kubing (Maranao) Ulibaw (Kalinga) Kolibau (Tingguian) Aru-ding (Tagbanwa) Aroding (Palawan) Kulaing (Yakan) Karombi (Toraja) Yori (Kailinese) It is traditionally considered an intimate instrument, usually used as communication between family or a loved one in close quarters.
