Over a thousand Africans were recently converted to Orthodoxy by Russian priests. People from Tanzania and Malawi were trained by catechists before being baptised and becoming members of the church. See how the sacrament was carried out in our video. The Russian Orthodox Church mission is vast in Africa. Besides the development of liturgical life, many humanitarian and educational projects are being conducted there by Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. It was created in 2021 after the Patriarch of Alexandria, whose canonical territory was considered to be Africa, recognised the Ukrainian schism. Dozens of African clerics who disagreed with this decision then asked to be admitted to the Russian Orthodox Church. In response to the requests of African clerics, the Synod in Moscow established an exarchate. Learn more on the split in Ukraine in ‘Ukraine: The Road to Schism’. #religeon FOLLOW ?
