The opening chorus of this cantata 'Jesu, der du meine Seele', performed here by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach, resembles a chaconne. You can hear a number of layers in the music: strings and winds, a chorale melody; multiple voices that all make their own contribution at the same time - a sampling of fantastic ensembles. As a contrast the arias are sung by one or two singers, with an accompanying instrument. Recorded for the project All of Bach on February 10th 2018 at the Walloon Church, Amsterdam.
