Islington, London. M/S of a little mouse crawling through some straw; M/S of a girl holding a twig, using it as a diviner. Several shots show artist David Boyd at work on a picture; he lights several candles in a candelabra and stands beneath a suspended canvas, moving the candles around so their smoke leaves marks. Using different candles he slowly builds up a picture of a female face. He then uses a candle to burn into the paint base of the canvas, which sends hundreds of golden bubbles out across the surface. We see several finished paintings by David; most are smoke and oil mixed. He called this style Sfumato, which means smoky tones. Note: on file is a magazine cutting about David.
