Begin jaren zeventig viel het collectief uit elkaar maar Theater Pepijn bleef Van Vliet beheren. Het werd een broeinest voor jong aanstormend talent. Youp van ‘t Hek, Herman Finkers, Jochem Myjer, Theo Maassen en Harrie Jekkers ze stonden er allemaal. Van Vliet speelde honderden voorstellingen in binnen- en buitenland, schreef diverse boeken, speelde in de musical “My Fair Lady“ en stond in toneelvoorstellingen. Ook was hij sinds 1992 ambassadeur van Unicef, een rol die hij dankte aan bemiddeling van Audrey Hepburn. Heel bekend zijn de typetjes uit zijn one man shows: Baron Taets van Avezaethe, Haagse Benny, Bram van de Commune en Majoor Kees, die ook een 'hit' had met “Majoor Kees en de Sinterklaahaas“, uitgezonden in Toppop op 27 november 1976. Van Vliet behoorde tot de grootste cabaretiers van Nederland en overleed op 25 april 2023 op 87-jarige leeftijd. In the early 1970s, the collective fell apart, but Theater Pepijn continued to manage Van Vliet. It became a hotbed for young up-and-coming talent. Youp van 't Hek, Herman Finkers, Jochem Myjer, Theo Maassen and Harrie Jekkers they were all there. Van Vliet played hundreds of performances at home and abroad, wrote several books, played in the musical “My Fair Lady“ and performed in stage performances. He has also been ambassador for UNICEF since 1992, a role he owes to the mediation of Audrey Hepburn.
