Severe weather continues to affect India. On Sunday, July 10, heavy rains hit Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat. An average of 13 centimeters of rain fell in 3 hours, setting the highest record in five years in a single day in July. The greatest amount of precipitation of 30 centimeters fell in the urban area of Ellisbridge. There is literally no place left without water in the city. The streets became like rivers, residents were looking for safe places. Chaos and traffic jams arose on the roads, vehicles got stuck in the water. Underpasses were closed to traffic. Houses in low-lying areas were flooded up to their knees. Due to rain, authorities closed colleges and schools on Monday. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Light to moderate rainfall is expected across the state over the next 5 days. Extremely heavy rains are expected in many areas of South Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch.
