Amphibious armoured vehicles deploy a Naval Landing Force onto a beach near Portsmouth, UK before joining two landing crafts to bring vehicles back across the water to their amphibious assault ship; the ITS San Giorgio ahead of it's arrival into Portsmouth Harbour. The Italian Navy's San Marco Marine Brigade exercised in British waters while on deployment for NATO Exercise Steadfast Defender. See the landing take place during stormy weather here: Three Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) aka 'Amtracs' deployed the landing force of marines onto Browndown Beach in Hampshire as part of an amphibious assault exercise during a several day visit to the UK. After the exercise the armoured fighting vehicles drove back through the water to their ship along with a Landing Craft Utility (LCU). The LCUs transported land vehicles and marines back to ITS San Giorgio. The ITS San Giorgio (L9892), first in it's class, is one of three Amphibious Transport Docks with the Italian Navy, designed to transport vehicles, landing craft and helicopters for an amphibious assault. The assault was conducted by the San Marco Marine Brigade, the naval infantry fighting force of the Italian Navy. The unit is headquartered in Brindisi, Italy. Also seen in this video is the USS Gunston Hall, a Whidbey-Class Dock Landing Ship with the US Navy. The ship was anchored nearby to participate in exercises on the same beach. Meanwhile the RFA Mounts Bay, a Bay-Class Landing Ship Dock, passed both ships going elsewhere.
