Farewell, thou bright-faced Moon! Ye stars, farewell, That wait upon the car of noiseless Night.' Theocritus, Idyll II Continuing the exploration of antiquity's places with the Bastl Instruments Kastle and Korg Volca Modular, we move from the astrologers and wise people of Chaldea to the shepherds and musicians of Arcadia. While on Chaldea I used the Kastle's STEPPED output to modulate between envelopes in Arcadia I use the Kastle's LFO to trigger the envelope on the Modular. This can create some very interesting AM effects (such as in the beginning of the song) as well as an evolving/repeating envelope size (the LFO rate is modulated by the STEPPED output, creating different gate lengths). I combined live footage of the recording/performance and used an old educational film (Growing Things: A Film Lesson in “Nature Study“ from 1928) for the growing seeds, roots and leaves.
