Melissa (Maria Valverde) is a lonely teenager who lives with her austere mother and understanding grandmother (Geraldine Chaplin) in Sicily. One day, she and her friend go to a party at the house of a school friend. There, Melissa has her first sexual experience with Daniele (Primo Reggiani), a boy from school.
