The island of Andros, Bahamas has the highest concentration of blue holes in the world. The island has over 300 in-land and ocean blue holes. Many of the blue holes are connected through vast underwater cave systems. At over 124 miles long, the Andros Barrier Reef is the third-longest barrier reef in the world. The nutrients transported through the blue holes during ocean tides, attract a large variety of marine animals and promotes healthy coral growth. The Bahamas National Trust has vowed to establish more marine parks like these to help protect the resources of the Bahamas for future generations.
