It was the height of the roller skating phenomenon. Golden Gate park would see about 20,000 skaters every Sunday when Kennedy Drive is closed to car traffic. When a law threatened to ban skating throughout California, the Golden Gate Park Skate Patrol skated to Sacramento to stop it!!!
