I’m craving the beach, but not if this weird chick’s there! From 1980, delicious stop-motion animation from The Brothers Quay of a trip to the beach with a girl and her magical picture book whose pages come to life. I avoided this one when I was younger, I must admit. She really creeped me out. I think it was the tongue-flicking action with the clam that was the final “Nope!“ for me (1:20). Now, it’s kind of charming. Delighted to see it so clearly (look at those waves! The hair on buddy’s chest!) and now I can really appreciate it. Memories of much groovier summers. First aired in Season 11 (Ep 1434), The Brothers Quay also did the marvy “Rain Dance“ (linked below) with the “raindrops splashing the noses“ of the farmer’s kids. Love it.
