Full title reads: “The Shelling of the Four Courts - and dramatic end of Rory O'Connor - the last of the Rebels.“ Dublin, Eire, Southern Ireland, Republic of Ireland. Soldiers of the Irish Free State fire artillery in the streets of Dublin. Shots of the damage from the shelling on the Four Courts (the Irish Law Courts). Smoke is billowing out of one of the buildings. A crowd of people gather at the end of the street, they are held back by troops. More shots of the Free State troops firing field guns. - These events took place 28 June 1922. The Four Courts were occupied by Republican Forces during the Irish Civil War. Title reads: “These pictures - though simple, are historic. You see the last British Troops to leave Ireland, marking the birth of the Irish Free State.“ British soldiers load up their field guns onto railway wagons. - These events took place in May 1922.
