Some funny stuff from a very serious dramatic actor, who late in his career, began a whole new one in a different direction. Known primarily for playing heavies in sci-fi flicks and dramas, Leslie Nielsen eventually took a role in Airplane! (1980), and his deadpan performance of the doctor on a doomed flight made him one of the most sought-after comedic actors and kept audiences laughing for another 20 years. RIP Leslie. Surely, you will be missed. (And I won’t call you Shirley!)
