On the weekend before the start of the fasting period, Funchal becomes a city of music, dance and fun. The streets, beautifully decorated with thousands of lights, live in the rhythm of music. On the last Saturday of carnival, there is a great procession that reaches the Municipal square. The second parade held at the Mardi Gras festival, that is, on the Tuesday preceding Ash Wednesday, called “trapalhão“, is also called the “joy Parade“.
