В черте города Москвы сохранилось мало старовозрастных деревьев, особенно в окружении плотной застройки домов и автодорог. «Леоновский дуб», произрастающий в парке «Сад Будущего», – один из таких редких деревьев-долгожителей, по легенде ему 300 лет. «Леоновский дуб» является предметом охраны объекта культурного наследия «Усадьба Леоново». Сами постройки усадьбы не дошли до наших дней, однако фрагменты липовых аллей и единичные экземпляры дубов сохранились. С 2011 года дуб внесен в реестр старовозрастных деревьев всероссийской программы «Деревья – памятники живой природы» и 28 марта 2022 года получил статус «Памятника живой природы». PS.
