Titles read: “ON LEAVE IN CAIRO“. Cairo, Egypt. Various shots show two British soldiers from the Royal Signals called Nobby and Ginger (for newsreel purposes!) arriving at the converted Nile boat 'Arabia' for their six days of leave. The moored boat has been set up as a 'home from home' for soldiers on leave and we see servicemen being served tea by an Egyptian waiter, reading in comfy chairs, playing draughts and table tennis. Nobby and Ginger are seen in their cabin the next morning; one has a shave while the other drinks tea. The men have breakfast on the boat, then set off on a sightseeing trip. Several shots of them in Cairo, looking at buildings, wandering through a souk or bazaar (the Mouski), looking at souvenirs, having their boots cleaned by two little boys and being offered 'Malacca canes' by an Arab man in the street. They sit at a table drinking tea and a 'Ghilly boy' shows them some tricks. The two soldiers are taken around the city in a gharry, then get on some camels at Men
