In almost every render engine such as C4D physical, Redshift, Octane, Houdini Mantra, you have the possibility of importing your own custom bokeh image file which allows full control over the final look of the bokeh. In blender this is not completely possible however you can fake the effect using a transparent cube placed infront of the camera.
