St Daniel's is a Grade 1 listed building and one of the oldest churches in the area. It is dedicated to St Deiniol, a 6th Century saint who had a hermit's cell on the site and was said to be the first Bishop of Bangor. The site was visited by pilgrims as it had a miraculous healing well. The church dates from the 14th/15th Centuries and it's fortunes have changed over time, being abandoned, repaired and abandoned again. It was used as a Methodist chapel in the 1700's and the famous preacher John Wesley visited on several occasions. The spire was also used as a landmark for ships to navigate by. In 1832 the church was sold into private hands along with the land it stands on. For info on St Deiniol: and John Wesley :
