Ken Murray plays Echoes of Rain by Sanghoon Lee on an Altamira Hanson N3 Concert Guitar. Echoes of Rain is a meditative piece that reflects on the various textural quality of rain. With the sparse and atmospheric resonance of guitar, mirror harmony and arch-like form the piece attempt to replicate the reflective character of shattering raindrops on a surface of the water. The piece consists of three sections that return in an arch-like manner, in which each of the sections represents the different status of rain: steady, calm, and ringing (Campanella). Although being relatively slow, the piece demands exceptional technicality to a performer as the piece involves extended techniques and, complex passages with interchanging harmonics. Sanghoon Lee is a composer, guitarist and sound artist who was brought up in South Korea.
