Glinka In 1898, the St. Petersburg merchant , the millionaire Grigory Grigoryevich Eliseev , acquired the property at 14 Tverskaya street. The passage that once passed under the original house on the property , into which carriages could enter, became the main entrance to the store, and the rooms of the first and second floors were turned into a huge trading room, sparkling with decorative walls with bright lights from huge, elegant chandeliers .The mansion on Tverskaya belonged to Eliseev until 1917 . During the Soviet era, the store was renamed Grocery Store No. 1, but continued to be unofficially called “Eliseevsky.“ The store as the modern phtos show, still operates today.....
