Winter is a reality we have to live with here in Canada, and some places get it worse than others. Our country is so large, the scope of winter ranges drastically, from cities that barely see freezing, to towns that see temperatures sub -60. My home town sits somewhere right in the middle of that. Throughout the winter we will see a constant fluctuation, ranging from 0° to -40°, but this year we hit -33° before the lakes were even frozen. This is a strange occurrence, but it provides some remarkable views. At this temperature, water does not behave as you would expect it to. The temperature of the lakes and rivers remain slightly above freezing, but the extreme temperatures above create steam, almost as if the water was boiling. I have not been overly excited to be staying home for the winter, but when you get to see things like this, I can not complain.
