Hello Operators. In the first video titled Grid down Communications for disaster preparedness, we opened the discussion about disaster Communications in a grid down scenario. In this video we continue that discussion, but change our focus to emergency backup power for our grid down Emegency Communications gear. Power for communications is often the holy grail of amateur radio communications and communications off grid. Rather than the old “car battery in a box“, we need to design a power strategy, taking into account our own communications strategy and goals. Unfortunately, the amateur radio emergency services has not been a big help. We are told gasoline or deisel generators are the way forward. That may be true for a larger organisation with a capable logistics machine, but it is not a practical strategy for a small group, family or individual looking for reliable renewable power. 73 Julian #oh8stn Grid Down and Off Grid Communications:
