Brighton, East Sussex. M/S at night shows a torch light shining onto garden gate showing name of house 'Alpesbury'. We then see various shots of four men setting up equipment inside this reputedly haunted house to check if there is really a ghost around, or a human prankster. Former Brighton policeman and ex-soldier Ted Henty seals the windows of the house with tape. Dowser Bruce Copen uses a ball on a string - radio-magnetic detector pendulum - and a divining rod to find out about any ghosts present. Luis Haestier, wireless and electrical engineer sets up a radar system. Henty checks around the fireplace, where caretakers of the house said the 'disturbances' occurred. He puts cotton thread across the fireplace and strings ornaments together, then sets up a microphone that will amplify any sound if threads snap or ornaments break. The lights are turned out.
