The Takanakuy Festival is held every year in Peru, where people gather to settle disputes by punching each other in the face. Two men (or women, or children) enter the ring to fight the way nature intended, although the result is a surprisingly well-natured and family friendly bare-knuckle fighting match that everyone seems to enjoy. Organizer Beltran Almora perhaps describes it best, as ‘an effervescence that is incomprehensible.’
