J Stage, Shepperton Film Studios, Middlesex, July 21, 1977 After The Who became superstars in the 1970’s the time between Who tours and albums grew. Undistracted by commitments to the band, Keith Moon moved to California and indulged in high living. His antics amused his friends but, by the time this footage was shot on July 21, 1977 at Shepperton Studios, years of abuse were beginning to take their toll on Keith. He arrived after a nine-mouth break overweight and sluggish and required days of rehearsals to recapture his usual ‘wildman’ style. This impromptu version of The Regents’ 1961 hit (and The Beach Boys number one in 1966) was part of several days of such loose perfomances.
