Now streaming on Apple Music Musician friends Eddie Irons and Jimmy Brown joined Morris Brown College graduates Roy Ransome, Reggie Hargis and Donald Nevins to create one of R&B's favorite songs, “Dazz“. The graduates had been with another band, Hellaphanalia just prior to organizing the group that was to become Brick. One afternoon it hit Hargis that Brick would be a good name for the funk band. Why Brick? Eddie Irons still lived with his parents who were installing a swimming pool when Hargis saw the bricks being used for the pool patio and realized that a space age name was too commonplace, that he wanted something solid and original to represent the band and Brick it was. They met every Wednesday to jam at the Southside Sound studio, and came up with several elements that evolved into the seriously funky disco jazz or “Dazz“ for short.
