Aquarium Jaguar Cichlid care starts with have a large enough aquarium. These fish can grow over 12 inches long in your aquarium. Here are some example threads: So my filter is making the noise like it is working but it's barely putting out water.. any suggestions??? What type of filter? Have you cleaned your media? What type of substrate do you have? Honestly I don't know. I've cleaned it and took everything out and cleaned it separately and bought a new cartridge. I'm just trying to figure out something before I buy a new one which I feel like I will need to do. When is the last time you cleaned the filter media? Is something stuck on the intake? If you look into the top of the filter where the intake tube is do you see a lot of bubbles? Ok, because sometimes sand can cause issues if it gets suckes into the impellor. (I take the risk and use sand, personally). No bubbles so it's not an air leak. Likely you'll have to take the filter apart to check the impeller. Something may have gotten down in the well the impeller sits in. QTips are great for cleaning out the impeller well. The impeller rides on a metal shaft. Check to make sure that's clean and not scratched up. Last WC on my big tank one filter would not restart. Took apart and the impeller had a string wound around it. I have a u2 and u4 fluval sometimes even when I have cleaned it out I have to turn the propeller head round manually and as someone said previously q tips are brilliant too for cleaning around small luck How big of a tank would be sufficient for guppy breeding? I've not been successful doing this yet so would someone advise me on the proper accouterments they need to breed and stay alive for once! Is there a chance I'm over filtering AND or not changing the water out enough? HELP PLEASE! (I have baby guppies in nursery tanks ready to be placed in a tank. I did it in a 45 gal for over a yr also had a 29 set up for all the babies i was saving to grow out in. Also had a breeders box for when moms were having their babies to keep them from being eaten during birth.
