Russia’s Chechen Republic has begun a large-scale building project to provide apartments for refugees fleeing Gaza. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced the project on Wednesday, which will see the initial construction of five blocks of 35 apartments each, located near local amenities. The project, funded by a regional charity, will also see each refugee family given 100,000 rubles ($1,120) to help them settle in. Many have already found employment, and Russian language classes are being organized for the new arrivals.
