She was born as Susan Kay Quatro in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 6 Suzi Quatro was influenced by watching Elvis Presley perform on television. From an early age she played drums or percussion as her father had a jazz band and she took part. In 1964 Suzi's sister Patti formed an all-female garage-rock band called “the Pleasure Seekers“ and Suzi joined the group playing bass and or singing. In 1971 Suzi Quatro moved to the UK after record producer Mickie Most spotted her and invited her to the country. While other producers tried to make her the “next Janis Joplin“, Most promised Suzi to make her the “first Suzi Quatro“, which convinced her. She released her first single “Rolling Stone“ in 1972, but the song only became famous in Portugal where it reached the #1 position. After Suzi joined bands like Slade on tour she released her next single “Can The Can“ in 1973 and reached #1 in the UK, Germany and Australia. More hits followed as well as albums like “Suzi Quatro“ in 1973 and “Quatro“ in 1974, which reached #1 in Australia. After her success waned a bit she came back in 1978 with a slower song called “If You Can't Give Me Love“ - the single reached the Top 5 in the UK and her first Top 50 hit in her homecountry USA. The album “If You Knew Suzi“ also got the highest chart result for her in the US - peaking at #37. Later that year she had her biggest success thanks to a duet with Chris Norman - a Top 5 single in the US Billboard Single Charts. Suzi Quatro released a total of 17 albums - her last one was “No Control“ in 2019. To this day she continues to rock out on stage, touring the world and this year she celebrated her 70th birthday.
