The reconnaissance of the group of troops received information about the build-up of enemy forces in the Kupyansk direction. At the front line, there was one and a half kilometres left to the enemy positions. Several targets need to be worked on at this firing position. The servicemen aimed mortars using an unmanned aerial vehicle, detected targets, verified coordinates and applied barrage fire at temporary deployment points and locations of enemy military equipment in the forest. Upon completion of the targeted shooting, the mortar crews quickly folded and hastily left the position. 120mm mortar crews using a mobile (nomadic) style of combat work are important for units on the front line not only to destroy specific stationary targets. They are indispensable for thwarting the enemy’s plans, do not allow the concentration of equipment and manpower in one specific place, and do not allow artillery systems and tanks, incl. Western-made ones, the safety of which the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is especially concerned about, travel close to the front end and conduct effective fire on our positions.
