Happy Earth Day 🌎🙏🏾🐝 Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu लोकः समस्ताः सुखिनो भवन्तु 'May all beings be happy ' Mantra translation word by word: 𝙇𝙤𝙠𝙖𝙝 - location, realm, all universes existing now 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙝 - the whole; the entire 𝙎𝙪𝙠𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙤 - centered in happiness and joy, free from suffering 𝘽𝙝𝙖𝙫 - the divine mood or state of unified existence 𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙪 - may it be so, it must be so While this song is dedicated to the Earth, remember, you are a part of Her. The truth is, this song is dedicated to 𝐘𝐎𝐔. This song is dedicated to your journey discovering that very natural state of by transforming ourselves, we transform nature. This might be cliche or even an annoying, redundant subject. But the type of happiness referred to here is different then the type of happiness typically associated with the word. I wouldn't speak to this if I hadn't accumulated a vast and diverse collection of experiences around it. And if I also hadn't touched the depths of pain. This is the on-going theme of my entire existence. I've truly treated this life like one giant 'field study', and could write an entire book about this, but for now just some food for thought: I’ve traveled around the world and back, literally. And I can tell you that happiness, or lack of it, was not sourced from anything external. I have met some of the most 'successful people' in the world, in the material sense, and yet, often they are addicted to drugs/alcohol or speak of a lack of fulfillment. We all have heard material success can't buy us happiness. But still at the back of our mind we think, 'If I could just be like this, go there, create this, or have I will be happy...' I’ve come from what we could call challenging 'humble beginnings' yet still managed to be innocently positive. Later, life bestowed me many material wishes of the world--yet I collapsed in sorrow. I've felt the most awakening and bliss in my life sitting alone in silence for days after 7 years of various 'fancy' spiritual practice and technique.. all to discover, I just need to be still, and breathe? So, what is true happiness then? Is it in that future utopia? Is it in 'ancient times'? That next million 💰? That next company milestone 📈 ? That shot of alcohol or psychedelic trip? Is it in that yet to be found soul mate? That past transcendental experience, or future Divine revelation? That chosen belief system? Is it found in the mind? The body? Where is it? Is it natural? Is it earned? How can we be, truly happy? This is a journey we all get to walk… unfortunately the average person stumbles blindly through most of life until, one day, maybe, we get a glimpse of something deeper…. not to mention the added layer of western spiritual materialism we have to learn to navigate, and discern from sincere spirituality. The poetry in this song is an excerpt from a longer poem written by 16th-century Indian mystic and celebrated Bhakti saint: “𝙊𝙝 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙, 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣. 𝘼𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙩, 𝙞𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙚𝙨. 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙜𝙚…𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙙𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩.. 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙅𝙤𝙮…” — 𝙎𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙈𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙞 Three years ago I began sharing my offerings as 'Nikunja' on Earth Day. This year for Earth Day, I find it to be a good time to pray. Pray for all beings… I have been hopelessly horrified at the state of the world, and at the same time, optimistically see the beauty of our potential! One of the greatest services we can offer to Mother Earth is to remember what this true happiness means. This is inherent, and the source of pure Love from which we come. I call this source, this 'indestructible refuge' , God. You may call it something different. And that's ok! Because no matter ones belief, ones culture, ones way of life-- can we really deny that there is an intelligent design much greater then our individual self? An intelligent design weaving together all humans, trees, bees, and galaxies...? Wouldn't it be of the greatest good to humble ourselves to that and to do our best to live in harmony with it? We don't have to be perfect. Simply a sincere, reverent heart will take you further than you could ever imagine. I can testify to this.
