PM Anthony Albanese is “making a virtue of not telling” Australians what the Voice to Parliament actually is, says former prime minister Tony Abbott. Mr Abbott joined Sky News Australia host Peta Credlin to express his concerns on the “scope” of power a Voice could have and if its decisions could be left to an “the unelected and essentially unaccountable” body. “He said his government was committed to the Uluru Statement in full something like 34 times and yet he still hasn’t read it,” Mr Abbott said. “It is bizarre, you wouldn’t buy a car without knowing something about it. “We don’t know how big the Voice would be, we don’t know the scope of its powers, we very much that it will probably be in the end up to the unelected and essentially unaccountable high court to determine these things. “We are being asked to sign a blank cheque on our Constitution and that is not something sensible people would do.”
