US Visa Restrictions on Nigeria Decried as 'New Colonialism' Amid Reciprocal Warnings ? Nigerian lawyer Ben Abraham, founder of Zarephath Aid, has strongly condemned the US new visa requirement for Nigerian applicants to disclose five years of social media history. “The United States stumped for themselves. They believe they are the head in the global community and that if you want to come to them, you have to meet up to what they have,“ Abraham told Sputnik Africa. He asserted that by requiring extensive online presence information, the US seeks to understand applicants' beliefs and values, effectively barring entry to those whose views are deemed “not compatible.“ Abraham slammed the policy as “highly restrictive“, representing an unprecedented level of control. This criticism comes as Nigeria has pledged to implement reciprocal measures, imposing similar social media disclosure requirements on US citizens applying for Nigerian visas.
