After 5 years of development RapidMXS finally released UVReactor. UVReactor is a high performance UV editor plug-in for 3ds max that doesn't require a modifier, making it ideal for on the fly UV creation and monitoring while modeling. Most of the algorithms are using modern technologies like concurrent data caching, accelerator data structures or modern CPU instruction sets like AVX2. The viewport is running under OpenGL. These things make it one of the fastest solution on the market. Since it's working directly on Editable Poly objects there is no need for modifiers, you can edit the UV while you are modeling, speeding up the entire modeling process. Also it can visualize how modifiers are affecting your UVs (like UVW Map) which wasn't possible before. Also it supports all the selection tools, 3ds max offers by default (like form the Graphite Modeling Tools) UVReactor is still under heavy development, but most of the crucial parts that really required for unwrapping has already been done. Please buy this plug-in if you are really upset with all existing, far from finished solutions or if you don't want to export your models back and forth between third-party applications anymore.
