Russia: Missile corvette departs Sevastopol for deployment off the Syrian coast

The 'Serpukhov' Buyan-M class corvette departed Sevastopol, Wednesday, before heading to the Mediterranean in order to strengthen Russia’s naval presence off the Syrian coast. The corvette will replace the 'Zeleny Dol,' a corvette of the same class which has been on duty at the port of Tartus since the beginning of February. The 'Serpukhov' is equipped with eight land-attack, anti-ship and anti-submarine Calibre-NK cruise missiles which can hit targets at long-range.
