Ansys Fluids Since Pitot tubes must be placed outside the boundary layer of the fuselage to yield correct airspeed readings, they could be exposed to an “enriched” liquid water content region. This leads to higher heating requirements in order to protect the Pitot's against icing. Ansys can be used to accurately simulate ice accretion and anti-icing systems.
