I found this vintage gas can online for dirt cheap. I'd seen plenty of these in circulation so it's not a very unique item, which made me want to do something to it more than just polishing it to bare metal. I started off using a product I'd hear about but never used before, Evaporust. Worked great, loved it and I will use it again. I chose to paint it the old school 76 gas station logo and color scheme only because it was bright and loud. After finding the vintage logo I deliberated a bit on how to best spray it on. I'm not a great artist so I didn't want to hand paint it, which is why I opted to use the stencil. I underestimated the curvature of the can and the ripples. Tons of overspray. So I taped it to fix the paint and that wasn't much better which led me to hand paint the detailed work. You'll also notice I sprayed parts of it in the morning and it was too cold in the shop which made the paint crack during drying. Bad decision after bad decision. Fixe
