The video’s ultimately uneventful — just Dan backed by his touring band, Hacienda, and a second drummer in My Morning Jacket’s Patrick Hallahan — but the kicking up dust in an arid Texan field, the rusted sunset, the bone-dry workingman feel bottle the song’s vibe right. Anything more stylized would ring hollow; is the substance coloring the lens, or the other way? Doesn’t matter, it’s simple, but it works.
