So I just wanted to first talk about what a trauma bond is and why it is so hard to break out of. Basically when you are in a trauma bond with someone you are in a relationship with someone that has intermittent hot/cold intermittent love/hate towards you. If this is done in childhood this would be like a child with a parent that teaches conditional love. They love you when you do something right but the second you're not then its like they are flipping all the time. Or a parent that's always angry that blames you for their emotions they make you feel responsible for how they are feeling. And so what happens is the child because they are in this environment with a person that's so angry at them is also responsible for their survival. The child in its child response kicks on to try to ensure its survival by doing or being whatever the parent needs so that their anger can subside and the child can feel a meausure of safety.
