Use this simple yet very effective warm-up exercise to expand the vocabulary of your students. Pick a word and create a word web that maps out the new word. Here is what you can put in each cloud around the target word: 1) meaning, 2) part of speech, 3) pronunciation, 4) translation, 5) sentence, 6) collocations, 7) category, 8) synonyms, and 9) antonyms. Word webs help your students organize information and learn and remember new vocabulary words. Use them as a warm-up activity in your class and you will see that your students will have a much better understanding of what the new word means.
