First things first, I'm sorry for the hiatus I took with making videos for this channel. Since my last video (published July 2013), I have graduated from high school in June 2014 and I am currently a sophomore in college majoring in film. I decided to make videos again because I missed making them and there are new material of Billie Holiday to be posted that I would love to share with you guys. And please excuse the old graphics (I had to use Windows Vista to make this video) for my laptop is broken but I'll be getting one soon. In the meantime, I plan on making a few videos for this account. This video is about Billie Holiday's performance on Steve Allen's Tonight Show on NBC, firs aired 1956. Holiday appeared on the program numerous times and while the audio of these appearances survive, the footage was lost in a fire. Here, Holiday is performing the songs “Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone“ and “(I Don't Stand A) Ghost of a Chance“ and also promotes her upcoming stint at Club Pablo in Washington, D.C. and her latest album for Clef Records (Verve) “Music for Torching.“ Enjoy!
