Winter is an excellent time of the year to prepare & sell candles. Due to the cold they harden quickly and transport well. Let's see how beeswax candles were made 200 years ago. There were 2 primary methods for making candles in this time. These methods stayed relatively the same for 100s of years. One could have used a mold or they could have dipped the candles out. Molded candles are perfectly straight while hand dipped candles have character. While dipping and using a mold were both commercially used methods, dipping was more common for those who prepared their candles at home, especially among the lower and middling classes.
