Fantasy dwarves are always badass, but they're even better when the creators do research and put extra thought into their world building. Here are my thoughts on some interesting concepts for equipment and tactics from “The Kingdom of the Dwarfs“ by David Wenzel and Robb Walsh. In particular we're taking a look at a realistic shield design and certain challenges that a Dwarven warrior would face against a taller human opponent in a 1-on-1 fight or small-scale melee. Might serve as inspiration for gamemasters or designers in fantasy RPGs, be it tabletop or video games.
