Right-wing Israeli protesters broke into two military compounds on Monday, after investigators arrived to question soldiers about suspected abuse of a Palestinian detainee at a prisoner detention camp. Small crowds of protesters forced their way into the compounds in what Israel's military chief described as “unlawful behaviours bordering on anarchy.“ The protesters later dispersed. The unrest began when military police showed up at the first site, the Sde Teiman military detention centre in southern Israel, as part of their investigation. As night fell, a crowd also gathered at the Beit Lid military compound in northern Israel, where a number of people broke into a military court before police and soldiers pushed them back out, according to the police. “I'm here to help our country and the whole people of Israel and the whole people of the world to help distinguish between good and evil, between good and bad,” protester David Yosefi said. “Right now, in the middle of a war you're dealing with, starting to interrogate soldiers in the middle of a war, that's wrong.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the break-ins and called for calm, while Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that, “Even in difficult times, the law applies to everyone – nobody may trespass into IDF bases.“ For more info, please go to Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: Like Global News on Facebook HERE: Follow Global News on X HERE: Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: #GlobalNews #Israel #military
