Hello, my friends~ ☺️ I have been waiting to record this piece for a while now since I was never able to perform it with my choir back at school. :') Pärt Uusberg's Muusika is one of the most gorgeous and moving musical compositions I have ever had the pleasure to sing, often described as “a meditation on the mystery and wonder of music.“ The lyrics are in the beautiful language Estonian, and they come from the poem Muusika by Juhan Liiv. Here is an English translation*: It must be somewhere, the original harmony, somewhere in great nature, hidden. Is it in the furious infinite, in distant stars’ orbits, is it in the sun’s scorn, in a tiny flower, in tree gossip, In heart music’s mother song or in tears? It must be somewhere, immortality, somewhere the original harmony must be found: how else could it infuse the human soul, that music? *translated by H.L. Hix & Jüri Talvet I hope this piece
