Teddington, Middlesex. The National Physical Laboratory. “Everything - even husbands - has a point beyond which it “gives“. Take a 20 feet steel girder, for instance...“ Low angle shot of a man standing at the bottom of a steel girder pulling on some ropes. He wears an overall. The camera tilts up. “...which is bolted...“ C/U of a man tightening the nuts to secure the steel girder to a platform. Dissolve into a shot of a man standing beside a large piece of machinery. He turns some levers. “...and submitted a gradual pressure.“ M/S of the man turning the lever, beside him is a large dial showing how many tons of pressure he is applying. (Looks like this dial is made specifically for the purposes of the film - looks a bit home-made!) Wider shot showing the steel girder - camera tilts up. The girder begins to bend. “Forty-nine tons pressure was its “giving“ point.“ L/S of the girder bending. Was an item in Eve's Film Review issue number 623. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATH
