In the 2024 Hard Enduro World Championship held in Serbia, Wade Young clinched his first FIM race win as a privateer on the Leader Tread GASGAS, overcoming a determined final day challenge from Teo Kabakchiev. On day 3 of the Xross Hard Enduro Rally, the race followed the demanding pattern set by Romaniacs, starting early to take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures. At 8 am, Teo Kabakchiev set the pace, with Wade Young closely following. The day's technical riding meant that the competitors remained closely packed, making for an intense competition through checkpoints and fuel stops. The main focus was on whether Kabakchiev could close the nine-minute gap to Young. Despite his best efforts and steadily reducing the gap throughout the day, Young's experience in GPS-style events proved decisive. Young maintained his lead, showcasing his resilience and skill, which have been honed through victories in events like Romaniacs. His consistent performance over the three days ensured his triumph. Teo Kabakchiev secured second place overall, marking his third consecutive podium at Xross Hard Enduro. His performance on the final day was remarkable, outpacing Young by seven minutes and narrowing the overall gap to just 2 minutes and 42 seconds. Michael Walkner claimed third place, demonstrating a mature and strategic ride. This podium finish is his best result in the world championship to date. Despite his critique of the course, Mario Roman finished fourth overall, a crucial result for the Sherco rider in the championship standings. David Cyprian's fifth-place finish marked a significant achievement, considering the challenges he faced, including bike theft and injuries earlier in the season. In the Junior World Championship, Suff Sella appeared to be leading, but an engine problem near the end of the day handed the victory to Mitch Brightmore. Graham Jarvis, despite a strong performance, was hindered by a mechanical issue on day one, which cost him valuable time and likely a podium finish.
