An exploration in an extraordinary place: the ancient Lazzaretto quarantine center and hospital located on Manoel Island in Gżira, Malta . From 1526, the port of Marsamxett served as a quarantine place. In 1643, this building is built. The buildings also served as a hospital during the plague epidemic of 1813-1814 and cholera of 1865. In 1939, the Admiralty requisitioned it for soldiers in the Second World War conflict. Between 1941 and 1942, it served as a submarine depot and the site was bombed.
