Created by Dimitris Tsaganos - Artist: Madonna - “Don't Cry for Me Argentina“ is a song from the 1978 musical “Evita“ with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. The musical concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. Sung by the title character Eva Perón, the song was titled “It's Only Your Lover Returning“ before Rice settled on the eventual name. It appears early in the Act II as Evita addresses the crowd from the balcony of the Casa Rosada and features a sweeping melody tied to broad emotional themes of regret and defiance. She speaks to her adoring supporters, revealing that despite her initial goal of achieving fame and glory, she has found her true calling to be the people of her country. “Don't Cry for Me Argentina“ appeared also near the end of the show, as the spirit of the dead Eva Perón exhorts the people of Argentina not to mourn her
